This letter is where my heart was in the spring of 2020. It’s amazing to see how different I feel now. I no longer believe in the shattered heart, but the notion that the pieces could come back together again in a new more beautiful mosaic helped me through my feelings at the time. Now I feel like the heart, Love, is always fertile ground for growth. Now I know my feelings cannot shatter me in any way.
Dear Heart,
I know you still feel shattered in places you don’t want to show me. I also know you are stronger than you realize. You have healed so much and come so far, yet still you are afraid to feel full. May you allow the blessings that surround you to enter freely! They cannot hurt you so long as you hold true to your own well of loving. You are trustworthy. You know the way even when you don’t know what you know. You are guided by a force of love within you that you do not fully understand. It is ok to surrender. It is ok to feel. Let the shattered fragments fertilize new growth. Let the hard lessons become wisdom instead of bitterness and resentment. Or perhaps it is acknowledging the bitterness and resentment that will let them flow through and out of you. I beg you to be gentle with yourself and always know that I hold you safe inside of me and love you with my whole being.
