When Denial Overrides The Facts Of Your True Heart
On this journey of life, love, and spirituality the importance of following your heart can never be stated enough. And yet, sometimes following your heart can feel like the most difficult thing to do. Especially when people you look to for guidance try to tell you your heart is sick and unable to be trusted. Never listen to that kind of manipulation. Instead, what I have come to learn is that the heart always knows the truth. It is denial of the heart that creates the true sickness.
Learning to reveal the truth of the heart can be a process. Learning how to listen. Learning the difference between what we think we want to hear and what the heart is actually saying. Once the heart is revealed, then we can see how it was communicating to us all along. Until then the labyrinth of denial and deflection lies at the heart of the healing.
The heart will not be denied for long, and this poem is about just that. The truth of the heart is resilient and powerful and cannot ever be silenced. I wrote this poem in the context of COVID with a subtext, or a personal parallel context, of denying the heart of truth and love until you come to a point of surrender and stop fighting your true desires.
Whatever is keeping you from the truth of your own heart can absolutely be healed and revealed. Love is all powerful like that, so keep the faith and keep on loving.
